Behind the Scenes at Street Toyota
The process of buying a new or used vehicle has certainly changed over the past few years thanks to a greater dependence on technology. What used to be a task that meant driving from dealership to dealership to find the best deal has now turned into a less intimidating, less stressful experience. Today, you can shop for a new or used vehicle from your comfort zone at home or work, without the stress and pressure of a dealership showroom environment. While the creation of the “virtual” online dealership has changed the way consumers shop for vehicles, the daily operations at the dealership itself have remained the same, aside from many technological upgrades. While you are at home on your couch shopping for your next car on StreetToyota.com, the staff at Street Toyota is working hard to make it just as easy and convenient once you find your perfect vehicle and are ready for a test drive. Here is a little about what goes on behind the scenes that makes it possible for you to enjoy a great buying experience at Street Toyota.
With the opening of our new state of the art 58,000 square foot facility located on 12 acres, it gave us the opportunity to provide our customers with more of everything. We have more parking as well as a larger showroom and lot, which allows room for us to provide you with a larger inventory of new and used vehicles from which to choose. On any given day, we have nearly 350 new Toyota cars, trucks and SUVs as well as approximately 225 certified pre-owned and used and program vehicles available for purchase. This type of commitment to customer satisfaction is just one of the reasons that Street Toyota became the first dealership in West Texas to be Signature Certified. For anyone looking for a new or used vehicle, Street Toyota has a great selection and can help provide the perfect vehicle for just about everyone.
Street Toyota’s owner and President, Joe Street, not only believes in providing a wonderful experience for our customers, but also believes in giving back to the community that helped Street Toyota thrive and become what it is today. Some of the great organizations that Street Toyota contributes to include the United Way, Amarillo Adult Literacy, Harrington Cancer Center, Meals on Wheels and Make-a-Wish just to name a few. Joe Street has been in the automotive business since 1972 and in addition to the various sponsorships and contributions, he has also served on many community boards including the Amarillo Area Foundation, Amarillo YMCA, the Amarillo South Rotary and many others.
Street Toyota General Manager, Mike Good, has been a part of the company since 1990. His career has allowed him to work for a Regional Toyota distributor, provide training in process and customer satisfaction and be a part of all aspects of a retail dealership. He stands behind Street Toyota’s mission statement, “To employ the best people who offer customers the most ethical, respectful treatment in a professional and friendly workplace.” General Sales Manager Cory Dupriest and his sales staff have a combined total of over 100 years of automotive customer service experience. The experienced Business Managers have made it possible to help customers by providing a variety of special finance and leasing programs serviced by more than a dozen lenders, many in the Amarillo area itself. Even our award winning Service Department is staffed by the best including three Master Technicians and eight Certified Technicians. Toyota Hybrid Sales Reach 5 Million Unit Milestone
In 2000 when the Prius made its debut, the first year only 5,562 were sold in the United States. Now, 13 years later, Toyota is celebrating the sale of its five millionth hybrid. While in 2000 Toyota was already proving they were ahead of their time in hybrid technology, the lack of sales was proof that consumers who were so used to gasoline-powered vehicles were not quite ready for the futuristic Prius. Now consumers find fuel-efficiency to be one of the most important factors when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle and Toyota is providing vehicles that fit this need. While the Prius is strictly sold as a hybrid, Toyota took one of the big reasons people overlooked hybrids and that was because they were different. By taking its most popular vehicle, the Camry, and offering it in a hybrid version, people could buy a hybrid that did not “look like a hybrid”. The Highlander and Avalon soon joined the ranks of Toyota “normal” looking hybrids.
Toyota also saw the need to provide different styles and sizes of Priuses to appeal to a larger group of consumers. With over 147,000 Priuses alone sold in 2012, it seems Toyota has built a winning lineup of Prius and other hybrid options. So, what has 5 million hybrids done for fuel use and the environment? Toyota estimates that hybrid usage has saved over 3 billion gallons of fuel and accounted for 34 fewer tons of CO2 being emitted into the environment. With hybrid sales increasing yearly, they are definitely working toward a cleaner environment for the future. No matter what reason consumers choose to switch to hybrid-powered vehicles they stand to benefit in fuel savings as well as making less of an impact on the environment as a whole.
If you have never driven a hybrid, there is no better time than now to stop by Street Toyota and take one for a test drive. Whether you are looking for a compact commuter friendly hybrid like the Prius c or want the luxury and passenger room that the Avalon hybrid offers, Street Toyota has them available for you to experience. With 5 million people worldwide with 2 million of them in the United States alone choosing a hybrid, that is proof enough that they are worth a look!
